From David Bowie's 1972 concept album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, "Ziggy Stardust" is a song about the rise and fall of a rock star of the same name. This character was often considered Bowie's alter-ego. In this dynamic 1973 performance, Bowie is backed by his band, which was also named The Spiders from Mars.
