After seeing some local landmarks around Penobscot Bay, we meet David Moses Bridges, who has revived the tradition of his ancestors and become a maker of wooden canoes, which are constructed using basic hand tools and traditional techniques.

David uses animal fat and pine sap to seal the birch bark hull of each canoe, making it waterproof and seaworthy. His beautiful hand-crafted canoes often sell to museums, but David still paddles them across open water into Canada to visit his relatives.
