After her sister reluctantly leaves her in charge, Jennifer is shocked by the complex plans and arrangements made for the kids. She drops into work to explain that she needs to take some time off, and promises to make up the time.

Jennifer drops her niece off at soccer practice and notices that she’s being bullied by other girls. When bringing the kids home, she meets Will again and has another nice chat with him. That evening, Jennifer’s cooking talents come under scrutiny when she prepares her first dinner for the kids.

Even though her sister still doesn't trust her, Jennifer's got thing more or less under control. The next day, she has all the children’s lunches ready in time for school, gives Flo an early birthday present, and makes a deal with Alice, who’s pushing the boundaries with her mom away.

Mandy’s husband isn’t as determined as she is to enjoy the cultural highlights of their European holiday, and tries to get her to relax. Back home, crisis strikes as Jennifer does the laundry. Will shows up to save the day, and Jennifer finds out more about his previous life over lunch.

While Jennifer cooks dinner, the kids receive a Skype call from their mom, who still hasn't relaxed into her vacation. Jennifer and Mandy’s mom calls Jennifer and gives her an update on their dad’s health, but all is not as it seems! The next day, Will takes his chance to ask Jennifer out on a date.

Jennifer is doing a great job with the kids, but her boyfriend, Quinn, is angry that she’s forgotten all about their plans. Newly arrived in Paris, Mandy receives the news that her parents won’t be coming to help out, and wants to fly home immediately, abandoning her vacation, and, very possibly, her husband Brian.

Mandy has booked a flight home the following morning, and can no longer avoid a difficult conversation with husband, who wants her to stay for the romantic honeymoon he’s been waiting for. Back home, Jennifer drops Flo off at a birthday party.

Mandy decides to stay in Europe after all. Jennifer takes Miles to school and discovers the extent of the bullying he is suffering every day.

Will brings Jennifer another gift from the house clearance, and this time Jennifer asks whether he’d like to help her out sometime. She checks in with her boss and has a family video call with Mandy and Brian, who are finally enjoying their freedom in Paris. At school, Flo finds that girls her age can be very fickle.

Jennifer is very worried about her niece and nephew, who are both being bullied at school. When Jennifer meets up with her boyfriend, Quinn, and tells him about how things are going, she is appalled by his lack of interest and sympathy.

Police raid the party Alice is at with her boyfriend, Sean, and she ends up in custody. A gravely disappointed Aunt Jennifer brings her home, having called on her neighbor, Will, to watch Alice's younger siblings.

For Jennifer, the strain of taking care of her sister's kids has become overwhelming. She considers asking Mandy to come home, but Will offers a shoulder to cry on and words of encouragement.

When a call to her sister in Paris goes unanswered, Jennifer gathers her strength and starts to deal with the issues the kids are facing, first helping Flo regain her confidence, and then devising a plan to stop Miles from being bullied at school.

Jennifer decides how to handle Alice's situation, then her own mom calls and they talk about the difficulties and joys of motherhood. Jennifer, Will, and the kids prepare for a big feast, not knowing how many people are actually coming to dinner...

It dawns on Jennifer that her dad’s injury isn’t as bad as had been made out, and her mom has some serious explaining to do. Will and Jennifer bid each other goodbye as Jennifer’s childminding duties come to an abrupt end.
