Laina "Walker" Morris created this video for a contest held by Justin Beiber to create a "Girlfriend" song in response to his popular song "Boyfriend." When posted to youtube on June 6, 2012, it quickly became a hit through social media.

There are plenty of examples of the conditional tense in this song. It's common to say "if I was," but it's technically incorrect. It should be, "if I were." We have left it as is in this song.

The band They Might Be Giants constructed a song with lyrics consisting just of the names of countries, so this is a great chance to brush up on the English forms of place names. But one hint: West Xylophone is, unfortunately not really the name of an actual country!

"Frosty the Snowman" is a popular seasonal song, written by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson, about a snowman who comes to life and plays with the kids who built him. He knows very well he won't stay alive for long.

Australians Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave of the band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds sing a beautiful but macabre duet about a man who brought his sweetheart to a river and killed her. A 19th century Irish song entitled “Down in the Willow Garden” inspired Cave to write the song.

The British band Madness had a major UK hit with this song, and with good reason: heartfelt and nutty in equal measure, it would bring the house down at every Madness show. The video — filmed above and below water — is one of their classics, with cameo appearances by Big Bird, a killer whale, and Labi Siffre, who wrote the song.
